Bayer Leverkusen’s view on Florian Wirtz to Liverpool transfer as second bid rejected

Liverpool has made Florian Wirtz one of their most important summer transfer goals, but the Premier League club still has to get the asking price of Bayer Leverkusen for the star

Bayer Leverkusen still expects Florian Wirtz to join Liverpool to Liverpool, despite rejecting two offers, it is said. The second bid of the Reds was still short of Leverkusen's £ 126 million asking price, but they remain in pole position to get a deal over the line.

Liverpool has already signed a Van Leverkusen's 2023-24 double-winning stars, with Jeremie Frimpong completing a £ 29.5 million switch. They continue to show the way to Germany playmaker Wirtz, despite the fact that Bayern Munich looked earlier as front runners.

According to Bild, Leverkusen do not consider the step in danger. The same publication reports that Liverpool and Wirtz have already agreed the conditions, with the transfer costs the only remaining obstacle.

A players-plus cash deal can still be one solution, while another option is an offer that will only reach the valuations of Leverkusen if bonuses are activated. Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah belong to those who are advertised when the German club gets a player as part of the transfer.

Whatever happens, Liverpool is expected to pay more than the £ 84 million including add-ons needed to sign Darwin Nunez of Benfica. Wirtz is expected to sign a contract until 2030 when the Anfield switch is formalized.

Wirtz's former teammate Toni Kroos van Germany is surprised by the transfer decision of his countryman. “It was just clear to everyone that he was going to Bayern,” Kroos said in May.

“I didn't know that, and in my old way I didn't believe it (that he would reject Bayern for Liverpool) first when someone wrote that.

The negotiations of Leverkusen about Wirtz, and how they spend the money through the sale of the Germany star, could have a huge influence on how Erik Ten Hag's first season crossed out in the Bayara. Former Manchester United -Baas ten Hag is confirmed as the new manager of the German club and takes the reins after the departure of Xabi Alonso for Real Madrid.

“Our ideas about football coincide,” said sports director Simon Rolfes. “With technically demanding and dominant football we want to continue in the work style and strive for the highest goals in the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League.”

Wirtz and Frimpong are not the only members of Alonso's team who leave before Ten Hag takes the lead on his first competitive match. Center-back Jonathan Tah, who spent the last decade in Leverkusen, has become a member of Bayern Munich with a free transfer.

“In Jonathan Tah we have taken over a player with international experience and quality, who does not need much time to settle in our defense,” said Bayern sports director Christoph Freund. “He will be a good and important addition to us with his technical qualities and his way and the way he leads.”
