Bayern confirm £126m Wirtz set for Liverpool after failed bid to sign him

Liverpool apparently won the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen -star Florian Wirtz.

The German attacker is one of the biggest names on the market in the coming transfer window, where the Reds go against each other with Bayern Munich to seduce him to participate.

That was after Man City withdrew from the race about the rising reimbursements and Bayern had remained as favorites before Mail Sport reported Friday that the Reds were walking ahead for the 22-year-old, who scored 16 goals and registered 15 assists this season.

And according to German Outlet Bild, Wirtz has now decided that Anfield is where his future lies and has agreed to become a member of the club.

The report claims that Hans-Joachim Wirtz, the father of Florian, Bayern managers and Max Eberl informed Max Eberl during a phone call this week after the trio was met.

It is said that Wirtz's father – who acts as his agent – revealed that his son was happy to spend a new challenge outside the Bundesliga after having spent five years in the first team of Leverkusen.

Bayern President Herbert Haininer then seemed to confirm this speculation on Saturday in a big blow to the German giants when he said: “Max Eberl told me that Florian Wirtz probably tends to Liverpool.”

The report further claims that Wirtz's decision shocked the figures at Bayern, with the club rather extremely convinced that the 29-cap German international would participate for a record transfer.

It was said that they feel that Wirtz wanted to stay in Germany in the coming years, because he will continue to settle as one of the best players of his generation.

Various discussions were held with not only the club, but also Vincent Kompany and Heukeness even dropped a hint on a possible movement at Bayern's Bundesliga title celebration last week.

“We will give you facts at some point,” he said. 'And not with further speculation. You are responsible for that. '

The Bild report claims that Liverpool boss Arne Slot has held discussions alongside Kompany with the 22-year-old and left a permanently impressive.

Mail Sport has previously demonstrated that Liverpool has made formal contact with Leverkusen and the clubs will now negotiate the substantial compensation and potential add-ons.

If Wirtz – WHO sources who wanted to move to Liverpool – would complete a move, he would probably cost a British transfer record costs and Leverkusen wants € 150 million (£ 125.9 million).

Sports director Richard Hughes will lead conversations to sign Wirtz, although suggestions that Fenway Sports Group Football Chief Michael Edwards flew to Boston to get the green light on the finances this week were not true.

The Reds will sign at least one player of Leverkusen, no matter what happens with Wing Back Jeremie Frimpong last week in England to complete a medical prior to a £ 29.5 million switch

The transfer snub still comes as a huge blow to Bayern, because they want to back up the Bundesliga title of Leverkusen.

After they missed Wirtz, she would keep an eye on the will of PSG's Xavi Simons, Kaoru Mitoma and Crystal Palace -star Ebereechi Eze, while the negotiations with Leroy Sane have been reopened about a new contract.
