The busy schedule of Bayern Munich influenced their performance against Celtic in the Champions League, Vincent Kompany claims.
Alphonso Davies bundled in a final gasp goal to save a 1-1 draw on Tuesday in the Allianz Arena, who sealed a 3-2 total victory for Bayern.
The leaders of Bundesliga have now qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League in each of the last 17 seasons.
Bayern, however, was lucky not to have admitted more than just once, with Nicholas Kuhn Celtic put forward in the 63rd minute.
“We have always talked about how many competitions we have in six days,” Kompany told reporters.
“It's simple. The first half could have been better, the second half was good. We could have scored more goals.
“It is not easy to get through such a program. You have to see it in this context. Our goal is to start performance and results from Sunday.”

Bayern, who has an eight -pointed lead in the second place of Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, could be at home without Harry Kane on Sunday for Eintracht Frankfurt, who are five points further back in third place, with the striker removed during the break.
“We were in Glasgow on Wednesday. Leverkusen. Big energy output. It is normal after the second game to take an extra day to recover,” Kompany said, adding that Kane's knock in the face in the game at Leverkusen had not been serious.
“He [Kane] Gave the thumb up this morning, but during the game he felt that he could not fully help the team.
“We didn't want to take the extra risk. How long or if he is injured, I still don't know.”
The goal of Bayern, Timed in 93 minutes and 12 seconds, was the newest equalizer of the club in a Champions League match (excluding extra time) since at least 2003-04, when the records of OPTA started.
