Bayern goalkeeper Urbig eyes rare two-title feat

Goalkeeper Jonas Urbig of Bayern Munich is looking at a rare performance after he helped the Vincent Kompany team to win the Bundesliga title.

Bayern's Bundesliga Triumph was confirmed on Sunday because Bayer Leverkusen could only sign with Freiburg.

That meant that Bayern, who pulled RB Leipzig 3-3 on Saturday, had an indisputable eight-point lead with two more games.

Yet Urbig, who filled in for wounded veteran Manuel Neuer, could win another league title.

Bayern signed the 21-year-old from Koln in January, and because Urbig had made 10 league games for his old team this season, he would be able to collect a winner's medal if his former club won the 2. Bundesliga title.

Koln Trail leaders Hamburg on one point with two more games to play.

“I have very good contact with the boys and I would be extremely happy if Cologne wins the title of the Second Division,” Urbig said.

Only two players have previously won the top two divisions in Germany in the same season.

They were Pasi Rautiains with Bayern and Werder Bremen in the 1980-81 season and Frank Hartmann, with Bayern and Hanover, in the 1986-87 campaign.
