Bayern Munich impressively asserted its authority over the Bundesliga by beating fourth-place RB Leipzig 5-1 on Friday.
After a match in which two goals were scored in the opening two minutes for the first time in Bundesliga history, Vincent Kompany's side have a seven-point lead at the top of the table for the rest of the weekend's matches.
After losing their first league match of the season to Mainz last week, it took Bayern just 28 seconds to get back on track through Jamal Musiala after Leroy Sane made a defensive error.
However, Benjamin Sesko equalized just over a minute later by curling in Lois Openda's cross, although it was all Bayern after that.
Konrad Laimar, formerly of Leipzig, struck home a second later and Joshua Kimmich smashed in a stunning effort from 25 yards just 11 minutes later to give the hosts a fully deserved half-time lead.
Bayern settled the tie with quickfire goals in the 75th and 78th minutes as Sane coolly fired home in the fourth before Alphonso Davies, who had set up the German's attack, headed in from Kimmich's perfect cross.

Data Debrief: Top of the pile
After suffering their first league defeat under Kompany last time out, Bayern ensured they ended 2024 on a much more positive note.
After the fast start to the match, Bayern put in a dominant performance with 22 shots, nine of which were classified as big chances.
They scored more than the 2.78 expected goals (xG) and scored with more than half of their shots on target (nine).
However, it was a sad end to 2024 for Leipzig as they failed to register a shot on target after Sesko's early goal, while they also lost Benjamin Henrichs to injury in stoppage time when he was stretchered off the pitch.
