Thomas Muller's contract with Bayern Munich is going this summer and the Bundesliga giants have chosen not to offer him a new deal, despite the attacker who wants to stay
Thomas Muller brings his shimmering 25-year stay at Bayern Munich to end this summer, has confirmed the German club. Muller, 35, is in the last three months of his contract and is not offered a new deal.
The legendary attacker has collected 743 performances for Bayern and has won 33 trophies, including two Champions competitions and a record 12 Bundesliga titles. Since he debuted his first team in 2008, Muller has scored a total of 247 goals and offered 273 assists.
Muller revealed that it wanted to continue his career in the Allianz Arena, but Bayern says that a 'mutual solution' was found this week. “The club has consciously decided not to negotiate a new contract with me for next season,” wrote the 131-you Germany International in a statement.
“Even if this does not match my personal wishes, it is important that the club follows its beliefs. Even after all these years, regardless of the minutes I play, I still have a lot of fun on the field with the boys. I could easily have imagined to play this role next year.
“I respect this step, which the board and the supervisory council were certainly not lightly. I did not like it in public in recent weeks and months.
“However, I treat it as if I am doing my own football: it was not always characterized by perfection, but rather with a positive, progressive approach to the next step. After a bad pass, it is important to win the ball back and be united. We have also achieved this in recent days with fair discussions about this issue.”
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen added: “The most important thing is that we have found a mutual solution. Thomas Muller is one of the greatest players that this club has produced, and therefore it was important for us to find an honest and friendly agreement.
“Now we want to work together to ensure that this incredible career is hoped with hopefully three more trophies. There are few players who are still enthusiastic about decades after their career. Thomas Muller will be one of them.”

This season Muller made 36 performances under manager Vincent Kompany and has returned 10 goals and assists. Bayern is still in the Champions League, where they play Inter Milan in the quarterfinals, and have a healthy lead over Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race.
The Side of Kompany will also compete this summer in the renewed Club World Cup and Muller could sign a contract in the short term to stay with Bayern if they reach the knockout phase. He withdrew from international football after playing two games for Germany at Euro 2024, after he won the World Cup with his country 10 years earlier in Brazil.
Bayern President Herbert Hainer also said: “Thomas Muller is the definition of a Bavarian fairy -tale career; he grew in Bavaria and with Bayern. From Ammersee to the Allianz Arena, to Asia and America.
“Nobody has won Bundesliga titles anymore and so far 33 trophies so far speaks volumes. He is one of the most excellent personalities in the history of FC Bayern.”
