Bayern Munich was left with a dilemma after their £ 58.5 million bid for Luis Diaz was rejected by Liverpool, even though he wanted to leave the club this summer
Liverpool is braced for a second bid from Bayern Munich after the German giants have made it clear that signing Luis Diaz is their top priority. Diaz, 28, was the subject of a £ 58.5 million from Bayern earlier this week.
That offer was downright rejected by Liverpool, so that Vincent Kompany's side had to make a decision. Bayern also talks to Stuttgart about signing highly rated striker Nick Woltemade.
The 23-year-old registered eight goals and assists in just five performances at the recent European championship under 21, because Germany reached the final before he lost in extra time in England. But the elevated asking price of Stuttgart of £ 55 million has seen Bayern cool their pursuit of Woltemade.
Now the Bundesliga champions would have completely paused the negotiations. Bild reports that Bayern is entirely focused on Diaz and remains optimistic that a deal can be closed.
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and sports director Max Eberl priorities priorities with conversations with and want to complete the move for the new season. Diaz is supposed to be open to Bayern, especially after Barcelona – previously the favorites to sign the Colombian – have moved their attention to Marcus Rashford, who can join Manchester United on loan.
It is also understood that Diaz Liverpool has informed leaders about his desire to leave. Bayern is planning to recruit at least one new attacker this summer and focuses on a winger who is able to take care of Harry Kane.
That is after Leroy Sane did not have a new contract and was signed for Galatasaray. Jamal Musiala then suffered a broken leg and only disrupted during a horrible incident at the Club World Cup.
But not everyone thinks Diaz is the right man. Former Bayern and Liverpool -midfielder Dietmar Hamann recently called for his old club to sign Brajan Gruda from Brighton instead.
How much does Bayern Munich have to pay for Luis Diaz? Say in the commentary part.
Hamann asked Sky Germany: “To bring in Luis Diaz now, a 28 -year -old South – American who played 50 games per season for four or five years and has long flights home – which is also a problem – to pay 70 or 80 million for that, while the sales value is zero because he would be 32 at the end of his contract, I wonder what they even have the campus [academy] for?”
“I would get Gruda,” Hamann continued. “For me he is one of the best German players. He was injured for a long time, but played very well towards the end of the season. Gruda can play on the outside and in the middle. He would be my first option.”
