Bayern Munich move ahead of Real Madrid in race for Bundesliga star
Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz is widely expected to be one of the key players in the 2025 summer transfer window, and it appears he could stay in Germany. Wirtz attracts the interest of the biggest fish in his native country, England and Spain.
Bayern Munich are desperate to land one of Germany's top talents and sign him Jamal Musiala, as Julian Nagelsmann has done with the Mannschaft. Meanwhile, Real Madrid, with Xabi Alonso possibly at the helm at some point, are also expected to make a move for Wirtz.
The Athletic, as carried by Diario AS, says Leverkusen would need more than €100 million to part ways with the 21-year-old. Los Blancos view this as a difficult compensation for Wirtz, and it is unlikely they will go all-in on the creative talent. Bayern, on the other hand, is keen to secure a major coup.
Barcelona have previously shown interest in Wirtz – as have most top clubs – but it appears it will be Bayern and Real Madrid who will battle it out for his signature. Manchester City have also been linked with Wirtz and could be tempted to make a move, especially if Kevin de Bruyne continues.
