Bayern Munich star publicly confirms that transfer decision will come in January

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has confirmed that his decision on his future will not be delayed much longer. Since last spring, Kimmich has been in and out of talks with Bayern over a new contract, which expires next summer.

He has often been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid and neither moved for him last summer despite the needs in the position. Kimmich has reportedly identified five teams he would leave Bayern for, including the Clasico duo, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. The 29-year-old is likely to face his last major contract and has returned to a key role under Vincent Kompany, playing every minute of his 19 games this season.

“I'm not waiting until the summer. In the winter I sit down and try to see the bigger picture. In January I will make the right decision,” Diario AS quotes the player himself.

Meanwhile, sporting director Christian Freund sounds positive about the prospects for a deal.

“We are in good negotiations with Kimmich and Musiala. Naturally, it is our wish to conclude the agreements as quickly as possible, but the most important thing is that there is ultimately a positive outcome and that they are extended. It doesn't matter if it's a week before or three weeks after. In both cases we are positive.”
