Germany international Joshua Kimmich has been linked with a move to Spain for much of the past two years as it became clear that a contract extension at Bayern Munich would not be an easy matter. With less than six months to go, Kimmich can now leave the club for free.
According to SkySports DE, Kimmich was asked by Bayern to make his intentions clear for the future by January 5, in the hope of helping with their summer planning. But as has been the case with their extension offers, Kimmich has not commented on that, although they do say negotiations and talks are ongoing. They say requests from Spain and England have also arrived at his door.
As things stand, he is unlikely to end up at Barcelona due to their finances. Sport says Hansi Flick and Barcelona are aware of his situation, but his wage demands are currently out of reach for them. Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have all been mentioned as potential destinations, although Kimmich is said to prioritize a move to England or Spain.
Real Madrid have been linked with a move for Kimmich on several occasions, but he is rarely mentioned as a target. The Blaugrana don't appear to be prioritizing a starting central midfielder at the moment, and with limited resources that reduces the chances of them pursuing Kimmich with what they do have.
