If Bayern Munich was in competition to Nico Williams, there was always a feeling that Barcelona had the advantage in terms of the wishes of the player. Luis Diaz, the alternative option for both parties, would also give priority to a move to Barcelona, but the battle is much more an open competition.
And the German side has done more than Barcelona so far. The Catalan giants have been in conversations with the Diaz camp for some time and had approached Liverpool after a movement, but the Reds had rejected that approach and told that Diaz is not for sale. Liverpool apparently wants at least € 80-85 million for Diaz.
Bayern, however, has more purchasing power than Barcelona, even if both parties want to negotiate Liverpool up to a price of around € 60 million. As revealed by the daily briefing, Bayern has now submitted an offer of € 52 million for Diaz. The Colombian has already given Bayern the green light that if they agree with Liverpool, he is happy to make the move.
This seems much more likely a starting point in negotiations, instead of a bid that is accepted, given the difference of approximately € 30 million between the two. Liverpool also has to remember that Diaz has two more years about his deal and has shown no signs to sign one of the deals they have offered. At the age of 28, if Liverpool cannot extend his contract, there will be busy selling Diaz.
In the meantime, Barcelona seems to have moved their attention to Marcus Rashford, perhaps the feeling that the Manchester United -Man is a more feasible option. It can also benefit Barcelona to see where the negotiation between Bayern and Liverpool is coming and then evaluating whether a hijacking is financially possible.
