According to reports, Bayern Munich will run away from contract negotiations with Thomas Muller.
The German side enjoyed a great campaign under Vincent Kompany and seem to restore their title as competition champions at the end of the season.
However, Muller played a bit of a role in their success and has only made eight starts in the competition for the Bavarian side – only scoring once.
More often, Kompany has looked at the younger stars of Bayern – instead of the 35 -year -old – while they want to build their team with a look at the future.
As a result, reports in Germany claim that Bayern is willing to run away from Muller's contract renewal talks – with his current deal that runs out in June.
Sky Sports Germany claims that, given the large wage of Muller, there is little advantage to have him in the team while looking for the future instead.
The outlet claims that Muller earns £ 14.2 million (€ 17 million) per season, making him one of the highest earners in the club.
In the meantime, Uli Hoonenheid recently sent a strict message to the veteran and he suggested that it is finally time for Muller to leave the club.
According to the outlet, he said: “If he's just a replacement, I would advise him to retire.”
Hoenheid has a long history with Bayern Munich, both as a player and as a club manager. In 2019, Hoenheid was taken from his role as President of Bayern Munich, but he continued to have an influential presence in the activities of the club.
The outlet also claims that Muller's 'fitness, enthusiasm and interest' cannot be disputed, but his playing time does not justify the lucrative deal he has.
Muller has been with Bayern Munich since 2000, when he came to the club's youth system at the age of 10 – before making his debut in the first team in August 2008.
Since then, the German star wins 12 league titles, six DFB pokals and two Champions competitions, making it one of their most decorated players ever.
In the meantime, colleague Bayern star Harry Kane hit two new milestones after scoring and assisting Bayern Munich in their 3-2 victory over St. Pauli on Sunday.
The German giants went to the top of the Bundesliga to deny Bayer Leverkusen as champions closer, who enjoyed an invincible campaign in 2023-24 to win the competition.
With seven games to go, the fate of Bayern is in their own hands in their attempt to bring the Bundesliga trophy back to Bavaria, after he had already confronted twice in the competition this season.
In Sunday's victory against St. Pauli, Kane opened the score in the first half to get his 22nd goal in the Bundesliga this season. He also played a role in the second goal of Leroy Sane of the game.
With his target contributions today Kane has now scored against all 19 Bundesliga teams that he played against, and he has also set more than 100 goals and assists since he came to Bayern.
