Bayern will go ‘full throttle’ in Bundesliga run-in, says Kompany

Bayern Munich does not let injuries stop them while they “go full gas” in their attempt to regain the Bundesliga title, Vincent Kompany promised for their journey to Augsburg.

With 65 points from 27 games, Bayern has a six -point advantage compared to title defender Bayer Leverkusen.

However, they have won one of their last three Bundesliga matches, however, lost to humble Bochum and drawing in Union Berlin for a narrow 3-2 victory over St Pauli last week.

They are probably also without left-wing Alphonso Davies and the Center-Back Dayot Upamecano for the rest of the season, while fellow defender Hiroki Ito sustained a midfootleur last week.

Despite those setbacks, Kompany has supported his side to stay the course in their seven remaining competitions.

“We have a few options for the full-back position. You can also become creative. The most important thing is that we have faith and it does not change that we have to go full throttle. We want to win,” Kompany said about Bayern's injury problems.

“During the international break we had time to look ahead. You think about how you want to approach these coming games, but then we have had three new injuries. What I want the boys to stay fit and then we will get the results.”

The OPTA Supercomputer currently admits Bayern a 95% chance of securing the title, with Leverkusen that has given a probability of 5%.

Kompany mentioned defender Sacha Boey as a player who could fill in. The 24-year-old has made 12 performances for Bayern since he had arrived from Galatasaray last year.

“Sacha is a player who likes to play on the right side. He is fit and absolutely an option, and he will get his minutes in the coming weeks,” he said.

“He was in a good position for his injury and hopefully he will show his qualities again. We have six players who have regularly played with full-back. It is important that they stay fit.”

Bayern has collected more points this season than in this phase of a campaign since 2017-18, when they had 66 points after 27 games.

However, they have already admitted so many goals in the second half of the season as in the entire first half of the campaign (13).

They now run the risk of going for the first time five league games without a clean sheet under Kompany, while Augsburg – undefeated in 11 Bundesliga competitions – only four competition goals have admitted in 2025, the least in Europe's top five competitions.

After the Augsburg trip, Bayern organizes Serie A-Leaders in the first stage of their quarter-final-equal game on Tuesday
