Bayern Munich is said to have a secret plan for club legend Thomas Muller while approaching the end of his contract.
The Muller deal will expire this summer, and he was expected to sign an extension to keep him with the German giants for another year.
On Tuesday, however, it was reported that Bayern withdrew their contract offer after he told Muller that he earns too much.
The 35 -year -old was used sparingly this season by manager Vincent Kompany, and it has been decided that Bayern cannot afford to keep him at the age of £ 14.2 million (€ 17 million) per seasonalary – one of the highest team – when he is only a frills player.
But Bayern still wants to keep Muller in some capacity at the club, and it is clear that they have devised a plan that could work for all parties.
According to Bild, there is a lot of interest in Muller from the US, and Bayern could look to send Muller to their partner club in MLS, Lafc.
If Muller took this step, he would become an ambassador for Bayern in the US and increase their appeal to the state.
Muller made his senior Bayern debut in 2009 and collected 742 performances for the Bundesliga leaders.
He scored 247 goals during this period and won a dazzling amount of silverware.
Muller has no less than 12 Bundesliga titles to his name and has won the Champions League twice.
Bayern is currently six points free from Bayer Leverkusen in the competition and will be confronted with Inter Milan later this month in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
But Muller has often settled with a place on the couch this term, whereby Kompany prefers Serge Gnobry and Leroy Sane to play in Bayern's attack alongside Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise.
After he had fallen the pecking order, Muller was recently encouraged by Bayern Advisor Uli Hoonenheid to retire at the end of the season, because he claimed that the World Cup winner earned better than to continue as a replacement.
The public comments of Hoeness reportedly did not go well with Muller, and he must now decide whether he would move to the US, want to re -enter the negotiations with Bayern about a new deal or suspend his boots.
