Before he was ‘The Machine’ of MMA, Merab Dvalishvili was ‘The Tornado’ of Golden Gloves Boxing in NYC

Old images of Merab Dvalishvili who compete in a Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament has turned up online – and it is safe to say that 'The Machine' has always been Cardio King.

The rule of UFC Bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili is perhaps a global MMA -Superster today -but once it was once that 'The Machine' competed in a completely different combat port arena.

And we are also not talking about Combat Sambo, with images of Dvalishvili in the boxing ring that have now surfaced online after a 'Mad Hatter' allowance from his experienced coach, Ray Longo.

After moving from Georgia to the United States at the age of 21, Merab Dvalishvili noticed that he participated in amateur boxing -in particular he fought several times under the Golden Gloves banner in New York City.

Images of one of those boxing fights in 2013 have now surfaced online, causing Dvalishvili to run through hundreds of main attacks to perform opponent Daquan Henry and to pack has clearly not changed.

During a recent performance on the Anik and Florian Podcast, head coach Ray Longo would describe his champion student as such a 'Mad Hatter' in the boxing ring that Golden Gloves had to change their control network to prevent him from fighting.

“When Merab came here for the first time, he came to a boxing school, it was not a good gym, but they threw him in golden gloves because he wanted to fight … That's why the golden gloves changed the rules. They threw him out of the tournament, I think because he was such a crazy hatter. '

In an article from New York Daily News that same year, Dvalishvili was also shown that he was revealed that he was nicknamed 'The Tornado' – instead of his current UFC name of 'The Machine'.

“Merab Dvalishvili does not bring the ring, only pain,” said journalist Stephen Lorenzo at the time: “Dvalishvili, lovingly Tornado called by Kayo BC, never stopped swirls.

“Dvalishvili dolgles did not feel like kicking after his victory and jumped from the canvas to the sports floor looking for his friends. “Next time I will get even better,” said Dvalishvili through a translator, “I can hit 100 times in a round, no problem. I'm not afraid to be tired. '' '

Coach Ray Longo sees this specific quote as proof that the legendary cardio of Dvalishvili extends much further than the Octagon: “If people think this is something new, this is forever going on.

“This is before I knew him; He made that statement. So, that part of the game, that mental side or that cardio side, was always there. How crazy is that? From 12 or 14 years ago. “

Merab Dvalishvili outlines Plan to leave the UFC title for one specific newcomer

While Dvalishvili is waiting for his next title -seconder, 'The Machine' has now revealed what would be needed (or rather who it would cost) to leave his UFC Bantamweight belt and go to 145 pounds.

Speaking via Europop Georgia earlier this week, the Georgian demolition ball teased that he will leave the Bantamweight scene as soon as Aleksandre Topuria – brother of champion Vederweight Ilia Topuria – makes his way to title conflicts.

“In my opinion he will also become a champion, so far he has pause his career because of Ilia, but now he is in the UFC and shows what he can do … Aleksandre has his own path [to follow].

“I said before that if Aleksandre becomes a competition, I will give up the belt. Or I will go up, or I will go down, or I will have super fights. We will solve it amly – and in general this is a good problem [to have]. “

Aleksandre Topuria was successful in his UFC debut earlier this month and is currently 6-1 as a professional MMA hunter with three victories via KO/TKO, two via submission and one via the jury's score cards.

At the time of writing, Merab DvalishVili #5 is on the UFC-Pond-for-Pond list, only one place under his Countryman Ilia 'El Matador' Topuria on #4.
