Belal Muhammad gets surprise opponent for first welterweight title defense at UFC 315

Belal Muhammad will make the first defense of his UFC -Welterwet title in May on UFC 315 after a surprising announcement by Dana White.

Last July at UFC 304, Belal Muhammad shocked the world when he dethroned Leon Edwards in Manchester and became the new champion of 170 pounds.

Prior to that fight, Muhammad trained with Khabib Nurmagomedov and the Islam Makhachev and his improvement of the wrestling department became clear early in the fight.

The 36-year-old was then planned to make the first defense of his title against Shavkat Rakhmonov on UFC 310 last December, but a terrible bot infection ruled Mohammed.

Dana White announces Belal Muhammad vs Jack della Maddalena for UFC 315

After the champion withdrew from his planned fight against Rakhmonov, 'The Nomad' remained on the map and he maintained his undefeated record with a big win over Ian Machado Garry.

After the fight, Muhammad faced Shavkat Rakhmonov, apparently to put their fight.

Since then, however, the Jager born in Chicago has continuously plagued a potential move to the middleweight division, with Muhammed challenging Dricus du Plessis.

Fortunately for the UFC fan base, CEO Dana White put an end to that feud when he announced the first welter weight of Muhammad last Wednesday.

Despite the broad conviction that Mohammed would subsequently fight Rakhmonov, White announced that he would defend his title against rank four, Jack della Maddalena on UFC 315 on 10 May.

The Australian was planned to compete against 'Rocky' Edwards in the Main Event of UFC London in March, however, was surprisingly upgraded to fight for the title.
