Belal Muhammad receives surprising defence from former rival whom he KO’d to end unbeaten streak

The Welterweight Champion of the UFC is not one of the most popular title holders of the promotion, but he is certainly one of the most discussed.

Belal Muhammad will return to the main event of UFC 315 next month, where he will defend the 170 pound title for the first time.

Since winning the belt at UFC 304 last year, 'Remember the Name' has had a target on his back with the two men involved in the main event of Kansas City this weekend, both chased Muhammad.

Even his next opponent, Jack della Maddalena, has a number of critical things to say about Mohammed's fighting style, but a former enemy of his recently decided to facilitate the champion.

The number one competition in the Welterweight Division expressed himself to support the 36-year-old who is now only a few weeks away from the head of the Bell Center in Montreal.

Top candidate Sean Brady comes out to support 'Respectful' Belal Muhammad

On UFC 280 in 2022, Belal Muhammad looked to expand his eight-fighter undefeated streak that contained victories over Demian Maia, Stephen Thompson and Vicente Luque.

Although some fans were still critical of 'remembering the name' when trivializing his versions and performance, the same could not be said for the undefeated Sean Brady.

With five consecutive victories in the Octagon, the rising competition was on a fast road to the top of the division, but his momentum crumbled after he was stopped by Mohammed in the second round.

This setback is well outdated for Brady with his only loss that would come to the man who would become the champion while recovering in style with big victories over Kelvin Gastelum, Gilbert Burns and Leon Edwards.

With Brady who now occupies the #1 ranking on 170 pounds, he is at a moving distance from a rematch with Mohammed, but there are no bad feelings towards the champion.

He told MMA fighting in a recent interview that he believes that the negativity that attracts Mohammed is not justified, even if he encourages it on social media.

“There was never beef with us. He gave me my first loss – he was the better man that evening. A feather for him, but yes, I always said that I think he gets a lot of hatred for no reason. He likes to play on social media, but you have to do what you have to do to sell fights and that is all he does.

“He was very respectful for me in the cage, after the fight, and yes, I have no problems with him, but of course, as a competitor, like a hunter, I can't wait to fight again, but it's nothing but respect from me for all these guys. I don't have a beef with someone (Covington).”

Sean Brady is not in the context of Shavkat Rakhmonov to prove that he is the number one is candidate

Sean Brady is now in a bit of an uncomfortable position, because Shavkat Rakhmonov can currently be in the title shot row for him, despite the #1 next to his name.

Rakhmonov defeated Ian Machado Garry last December to strengthen his status as the next in line, but an injury prevented him from fighting at UFC 315 next month.

Brady's simple solution for this is that if the UFC needs one of the man to prove that they deserve the chance, he is happy to cope with 'The Nomad'.

He told MMA fighting in the same interview that he has no problem to compete in an eliminator to clean up the situation.

“If you look at who he has defeated lately and who I have defeated, I should be, but I am not going to wait for something that is not guaranteed, so if the UFC me and Shavkat want to do, I think that's fine.
