Ben Askren back in hospital after life-saving double lung transplant: ‘Not all sunshine and rainbows’

Former UFC star Ben Askren has given an update from the hospital.

The former Bellator and one champion almost lost his life this summer after fighting a Staph infection and a serious case of pneumonia. Askren 'died four times' before he received his double lung transplantation at the end of June.

Askren later returned to his family and inspired so much in the MMA community with his recovery and positive view after a body transformation.

However, it seems that Askren is not yet out of the forest, because the former UFC welter weight has recently been admitted to the hospital.

“Well, as you can probably tell, I am unfortunately no longer at home,” Askren said in a video.

Ben Askren won UFC debut against former champion in 2019

There was a time in 2019 when Askren was unbeaten in the top 5 of the UFC Welterweight Division.

Askren was half a trade -off between UFC and one championship in 2018 when the former champion was traded to the most important promotion for UFC Flyweight 'Goat' Demetrious Johnson.

Askren improved to 19-0 in his only UFC victory on former UFC Welterweight King Robbie Lawler, when he submitted him with a Bulldog choke on UFC 235.

The victory, however, came with some controversy, because Lawler did not tap the entry and was not unconscious when Askren released the choke after referee Herb Dean had stopped the match.
