Bentancur ‘back home from hospital and fine’ after concussion scare

Ange Postecoglou confirmed Rodrigo Bentancur is back home after the Tottenham midfielder was stretchered off during their win over Liverpool in midweek.

Bentancur fell to the ground unchallenged just six minutes into the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Uruguay international was treated for about nine minutes before being taken to hospital for further examination.

Postecoglou says Bentancur will now be absent for a few weeks while he observes concussion protocol, including this weekend's FA Cup match against non-league Tamworth.

“Luckily it looks like a concussion and nothing more than that,” the Spurs boss told reporters during his pre-match press conference.

“Good news. He was in the hospital and did all the tests to make sure everything was fine. Everthing okay. He is back home and doing well. He feels good.

“Obviously you're following the protocols now, and it's a couple of weeks where you have to make sure everything is OK.”
