Arsenal Sporting Director Andrea Berta is a busy man – and he recently not only been in negotiations with players, with a step for a new recruitment specialist who collects pace
Arsenal reportedly tries to strengthen their recruitment team prior to a busy window in the summer transfer by hiring Matteo Tognozzi. The Gunners are starting a hugely important off-season and the new sports director Andrea Berta would like to provide reinforcements.
The club knows that they should improve their team if they want to take the next step under Mikel Arteta in 2025/26. Arsenal finished second in the Premier League for three consecutive campaigns and was beaten from the Champions League in the semi-final last season by final winners Paris Saint-Germain.
Former Atletico Madrid Recruitment Chief Berta was hired in March with the assignment to offer Arteta important signing sessions this summer. The Gunners have already beaten the real Sociedad -midfielder Martin Zubimendi for £ 51 million, but have a whole series of other players on their radar.
However, they not only work on signing players, with the athletic report that Tognozzi is in advanced conversations to become a member of the Berta department. The 38-year-old Italian has previously worked for Juventus and Granada and is well considered as a recruitment specialist.
He made his name at work under the former Tottenham -sports director Fabio Paraticians at Juventus. If Arsenal can close a deal, then Tognozzi Jason Ayto will effectively replace it, who left last month after he had climbed at the club for more than 10 years to become an assistant sports director under Berta's predecessor Edu.
Arsenal would like to get Tognozzi on board soon because the time is essential in the transfer market. Zubimendi is expected to be the first signing of what an extremely busy summer will be, with various other positions that are viewed.
According to reports in Greece, Arsenal is talking to Genk about a deal for 17-year-old Greece Internationale Konstantinos Karetsas. The young midfielder could cost the Gunners around £ 38 million, although he would stay in the Genk for the following season to continue his development.

In the meantime, the most important focus is on landing a center-forward from the top class, with Arsenal who wanted both Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and the Viktor Gyokers from Lisbon and Sporting Lisbon. It is said that Berta has to be taken a final decision that they are about, who thinks about the financial frameworks of the deals.
Arsenal also has a long-term interest in athletic Bilbao-wing player Nico Williams and would like to sign a new backup goalkeeper after Neto had returned to Bournemouth at the end of his loan agreement. Allegedly they keep an eye on Kepa Arrizabalaga, which performed well in Bournemouth last season and has a release clause of £ 5 million in his Chelsea contract.
The co-chairman of the club, Josh Kroenke, has made it clear that the Gunners mean business this summer. “We are planning to invest to go behind and do better the next season,” said Kroenke. “We are pleased that we have our sports director, Andrea, who will play an important role in this.
“He is part of a united and strong team, supported by the board, which are crystal clear on exactly what we have to do and the way we want to do it. The right way. The Arsenal manner.”
