Barcelona have failed to achieve consecutive wins in La Liga. After convincingly putting Mallorca aside on Tuesday, Hansi Flick's team were held 2-2 by Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin.
Match report
Barcelona had the better opening phase and in the 40th minute they were rewarded with the breakthrough. It was a wonderful team performance that was rounded off by Robert Lewandowski, who converted Jules Kounde's excellent low cross.
Just before the hour mark, Betis managed to find a deserved equalizer. Vitor Roque was fouled by Frenkie de Jong in the penalty area, allowing Giovani Lo Celso to score from twelve meters.
Barcelona would take the lead again after 82 minutes. Lamine Yamal's outrageous through ball was finished by substitute Ferran Torres – the goal was initially disallowed for offside before the decision was overturned by VAR. There would be no victory for the visitors, however, as Assane Diao struck in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
The result means that Barcelona have made a mistake for the fourth time in five matchdays in La Liga. Should Real Madrid beat Girona later in the day, their lead at the top of the table would be just two points – meaning they will have played a game more.
