Beto performance in Leicester thrashing delights Moyes

Everton manager David Moyes spoke glowing about Beto after the striker scored a first half brace in their 4-0 demolition of Leicester City.

Beto, in the side for the injured Dominic Calvert-Lewin, had scored only one competition goal this season, but took both chances with great confidence and was an integral part of a highest team performance by the Toffees.

Moyes reserved special praise for the center and emphasized his interest in the side with people such as Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja on the sidelines for a long period.

He said to BBC Sport: “I am really happy for Beto because I only get to get to know him. He probably had the feeling that it was difficult for him.

“We need someone to score goals – we are short at the center of the center and losing Dom was a big blow – he came in and took his goals very well.”

Moyes was happy with the first half of his side and noticed the importance of the goal of Abdoulaye Doucoure after 11 seconds, the fastest by a player at home in the Premier League history, when calming all pre-match nerves. It is also the fourth fastest goal in the history of the competition.

“If you get a goal so fast, it's a big boost of trust,” said Moyes.

“We supported it with the second goal, so we can play. We were a bit of bad luck to score a few more at the time. Sometimes our first half performance was very good.”

The Goodison -believers sang the name of Moyes towards the end of the game and the scotsman is aware of what he still has to see from his side to ensure that they remain a Premier League side and the last remaining matches in Goodison Park Making difficult for road teams.

He said, “I found the sound incredible.

“I remember how it was always. You have to give them something to scream, and we did from the start.

“We are doing a lot of good things. There is a lot that we can try to make better. The task is to ensure that we are a Premier League team. The last three results will go a long way to make that happen.”

Leicester -Baas Ruud van Nistelrooy admitted that a disastrous start has turned out to be too much to overcome for his players, with his side two goals after just six minutes.

They ended a point of seven straight defeats in the competition by beating Tottenham the last time out, but could not build on that result on Saturday.

Van Nistelrooy said to BBC Sport: “If you look at the scoreboard after 10 seconds and after five minutes and if you look at the goals, you will of course not afford to get here and get a result that starts.”

The Dutchman was also disappointed about the defense by his side for the first two goals. Leicester lost the first air duel of the meeting, led Doucoure to burst into the box and put the home team in the front, while a simple weighted pass by James Tarkowski Beto for the second cleanses.

He added: “You look at the first long ball, a duel, Doucoure is in it. The second, one ball through the channel. Good finishes. They were very effective.

“We know the beginning of the game that you have to stay in the game. You know it will be intense and difficult for Goodison. We have given ourselves a big problem to get a result.

“They are small things. The first game and sharpness to act accordingly. It can happen, it's football. We know the situation we are in. We are together and want to move forward and get out of the situation.”
