Wayne Rooney fears the Europa League form of Manchester United is “paper over many cracks”.
And the most important scorer of the Red Devils says that there are major problems at Old Trafford that need to be solved and soon.
The men of Ruben Amorim hope to seal a place in the final by defending their 3-0 lead against Athletic Bilbao in the semi-final of Thursday, second legs in Old Trafford on Thursday.
United is the only unbeaten side in the UEFA competition this season, and lifting the trophy in Spain on 21 May it would deliver a place in the Champions League of next season.
Yet their form was in the Prem in Stark contrast and Amorim's 15th placed side dropped to their 16th defeat of the season in the 4-3 loss in Brentford on Sunday.
Rooney – who canceled the Europa League trophy in 2017 as United Captain – said: “I feel that I would reach the final is making a lot of cracks.
“There are major problems at Manchester United that have to be solved quickly.”
The son of the former striker of the England is Kai in the Academy in Carrington, so he is a regular visitor to the head office.
Rooney admits that he finds it strange that Amorim is sticking to the three-at-the-back system that is exposed in the Premier League countless times.
And it is even a counselor because United's Under-23s do not do the same-which means that the players who stepped into the first team are not ready.

Rooney, who gave 253 goals for United, added: “The second team plays with a back four, which I found strange.
“Many of those players have now entered the first team, but they get their playing time with the under-23s or 21s, but they play a different system.
“For me that is a bit confusing. It is strange if you play a back five, or a back three, to put pressure on the ball – otherwise it will come back through midfield.
“Brentford caused united united problems from the broad areas – and United did not really have the intensity.”
The Europa League of the Red Devils, however, has received a big boost, in which the two star men of Athletic Bilbao miss training on Monday.
Winger Nico Williams and top scorer Oihan Sancet were both absent when Ernesto Valverde tested his players.
None of the two forwards can be seen in the scoreless draw with Derby -Rivalen Real Sociedad in San Sebastian on Sunday evening.
And it remains touch and goes whether they are fit fit to fly to England tomorrow ready for the return bone on Thursday evening in Manchester.
Valverde knows that there is little margin for mistakes if his team has to perform a miracle and return from 3-0.
Williams, a summer target for Arsenal, has just returned from a hamstring problem and became a new injury late under the defeat of United.
Sancet has missed a muscle problem in the last few weeks and is considered doubtful.
Defender Dani Vivian is also not available after his controversial first half of a red card in the first stage.
