Bissouma wants to repeat ‘best night of my life’ in Europa League final

Tottenham Hotspur's Yves Bissouma had the best evening of his life after beating Bodo/Glimt to secure a place in the Europa League final, but he wants to improve it next week.

Spurs will be confronted with Manchester United in Bilbao on 21 May in the second largest competition in Europe, with both clubs looking for miserable domestic seasons.

Indeed, Spurs have lost 24 games in all competitions this season, their second highest number of defeats in a single campaign in their history after 1991-92 (25).

They are also 17th in the Premier League table, one place behind Ruben Amorim, who are out to win their second Europa League title, which have the upper hand in the 2016-17 final.

But after enjoying the final progress, Bissouma can be celebrated after more to offer a silver lining to an overwhelming campaign.

“It was the best evening of my life because I qualified for the final of the Europa League,” he told Sky Sports.

“Nothing can change it in my life and I will never forget this. And I know I can have a night that can be better than this, so I try to work hard to be ready for that.

“It is not every time you get the chance to play a European final and it is not something that comes every season, so a special moment like this, you feel that it is a dream. I don't want to wake up.

“I realize that it is not a dream. We have worked hard there to be where we are now. The club deserves it, the fans, and we deserve it too, because every day we work very hard to be where we are now.

“We have to do the right things to bring that trophy home.”

Despite the Premier League wrestings of both teams, that did not stop with impressive versions on the continent.

United is unbeaten in their 14 games in the Europa League this season (W9 D5), most of the games they have ever played in one European campaign without losing.

In the meantime, Tottenham has won nine games this season in the Europa League (D3 L2) -Hun most ever victories in the same campaign in large European competitions.

Bissouma made an impression in the semi -final of his Side's Europa League, where no player made more shots than he (six) or wins more in the defensive third (six).

“It is not alone, it's a team,” he said. “We work so hard, the coaches, all employees, the players. We are a Spurs family.

“This season was really difficult for us and it's not the time for us to give up. We all stay together.

“Maybe you saw me play, but the coaches, the information they gave me, for me to do it on the field, the way we train, all these things help me to play as I played.

“It is a team win and I am really happy with that, because now we have what we wanted. Now it is still a game, so let's be ready and go.”
