UFC des Moines lost a provisional match due to a bizarre accident at the PI.

Unfortunately, injuries are commonplace in mixed martial arts. Whether it is a fight of injury or a disease, just a few weeks after a fight, fighters regularly have to deal with a lot of adversity with their bodies.

But UFC lightweight Trevor Peek suffered an injury under some of the strangest conditions for UFC des Moines.

Peek would be confronted with Jeong Yeong Lee at UFC des Moines on 3 May in a lightweight under the radar. While Peek undertook the end of his training camp, a routine session went wrong at the UFC Performance Institute and resulted in the fact that he announced his withdrawal from the upcoming card.

UFC's Trevor Peek broke his leg jump rope for UFC des Moines

In a recent Instagram post, Peek revealed the unusual story of what happened that led to his withdrawal of the UFC des Moines.

“I broke my leg at the Performance Institution on Friday,” Peek explained. “It's not a bad break. I still have to get CT scans in the next day or two and find out if I have any form of ligament damage or something similar.

“I wish I had a cool story about how I did it, but I was rowing on a few soft mats and jumped. I alternated each leg. I had been rowing for 20 minutes and got a little tired, a little carefree, and don't pay attention. (H/t Bjpenn)

At the moment it is uncertain whether the UFC matchmakers will look for a discount on a short notice for Lee for UFC des Moines. Peek wanted to lose back in the win column after back-to-back to Yanal Ashmouz and Charlie Campbell.

Peek's injury at the UFC PI is not the only bizarre incident that takes place in the state-of-the-art training facility of the promotion. Former UFC -light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka disrupted his shoulder at the Pi before his team tried it and did not succeed in resetting it, which resulted in a more serious ailment than the first thought.

UFC des Moines Main Event winner can earn a title shot with Bantamweight

UFC des Moines is colored by a Bantamweight conflict between Cory Sandhagen and former flight weight holder DEIVESON Figueiredo. The card contains the return of Bo Nickal, Reinier de Ridder and other emerging highlights.

The winner of Sandhagen vs. Figueiredo could make a strong case for a title shot with an impressive version at UFC des Moines. UFC Bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili will be confronted in a rematch on UFC 316 in June.

As far as Peek is concerned, he could possibly return to the Octagon towards the end of the year, depending on the severity of his injury. But in both cases, fighters can wander from jumping rope after the freak accident of Peek.
