Bo Nickal successfully made weight for UFC des Moines after reporting the scales 37 pounds above the weight at the start of the Vechtweek.
Middleweight Competier Nickal is confronted with the former title holder Reinier De Ridder of one championship in the biggest step up in his career on Saturday evening. The pair fights in the Co-Main event of UFC des Moines, which is led by a Bantamweight conflict between Cory Sandhagen and Deiveson Figueiredo.
Nickal has never come close to the weight in his UFC career before, but fans wanted to see him on the scale today. Four days ago he shared a video that claimed that he weighed deeply on heavyweight territory before he started his cut.
Bo Nickal makes weight cut after alleged 37 pounds for UFC des Moines
This morning at the Fighter Hotel for UFC des Moines, Bo Nickal offered the scales on 185.5LB for his fight with Reinier de Ridder. He was relatively early on the scales, and both men made the same weight, in which the Dutchman actually seemed worse for wear of the two.
It seemed relatively run of the mill, where neither man had a problem making weight in their collective 28 professional attacks. But what made it an intriguing moment was a video that was shared by Nickal a few days ago, where he stepped on the scales and seemed to be 222.6LB.
That meant that he was confronted with a reduction of nearly 37 pounds in a week, which would have been disastrous for his preparations. However, it is likely that the video will be performed for promotion, where Nickal visibly wears a lot of clothing in the clip and is out of the shot when the number appears on the scale.
It is almost certainly a falsified video that has been posted with the intention of going viral and helping this promote, his greatest fight so far in the UFC.
Bo Nickal opened about massive 'bulk' for UFC des Moines
Nickal claims that the video is legitimate and told Mmafighting earlier this week that he had just gone a bit too heavy with his pre-Vecht Bulking. He insisted that the video was legitimate and noticed that he was lighter when he removed his clothes and shoes.
'It's the biggest cut [for a fight] Certainly, “said Nickal.” I think I am always looking to adjust things and to ensure that I am improved and better in every camp and every training cycle, and I felt like the [extra] Size is something that is good for me. “

During an earlier part of the interview, he added: “A large part of my last camp in recent months it was to build. I felt that I wanted to concentrate on my weight a little higher and ensuring that I am a full-size middle weight.
“So coming in the weight, it's just a part of the work for me. Taking the weight down is something I am used to. With wrestling I have weighed hundreds of times since I have been at a young age and it is usually for me.
“So that was definitely a little more than what I am used to, but a part of the work. No worries … It was a bit heavier than what I expected, and I was wearing a hoodie and things like that.
“So it was slightly less than what we saw on the scale, but yes, I knew that I had a lot of work to do at the time, but it is again part of the work.”
