Bo Nickal opens up about ‘suffering’ through fight week after stepping on the scales 36lbs overweight

Bo Nickal has a long mountain to climb during the UFC des Moines Fight Week.

On 3 May he will be looking for the ranking on 185 pounds by beating Reinier de Ridder, but to make the submission specialist better, there was an adjustment he wanted to make.

Nickal criticized his victory over Paul Craig at UFC 309, where the fight took place as a striking game before the American won a unanimous decision.

The wrestling specialist has already proven that while Grappling is his best skills, he has power in his hands with Nickal who stops Val Woodburn in just 38 seconds, but this was not the problem.

Nickal, from Madison Square Garden, decided that he had to set up some extra size to compete with the top middle weights, but his actions have come with consequences.

Bo Nickal says he pays the price of accumulation after astonishing Vechtweek weight control

In a video that was placed on his Instagram during the Vechtweek, Bo Nickal stepped on the scale that recorded a total of 222.6 pounds, which means that he was more than 36 pounds above the middleweight limit of 186.

There are several factors to take into account the fact that he is completely dressed and that he is no stranger to cut the weight as an accomplished wrestler.

The number was still a reason for concern for many fans when they wondered how Nickal will be able to work before 3 May.

In a recent interview with Shakiel Mahjouri, the undefeated competition spoke about the response to the video and whether he deliberately did it to emphasize fans.

He replied by stating that it was a goal to be bigger in this fight and although he may have exaggerated, he is willing to tackle that before he stepped on the official scales on Friday.

“A large part of this Vechtkamp has started for me. I wanted to get a little bigger for the weight and therefore may have gone a bit too far, but that is just, now I have the consequences of that.

“So it is part of the weight cutting process and I have never missed weight in my life, because I struggled 5 years old.

“I have weighed hundreds of times, so I am convinced that I can do it and yes, it can emphasize people a little, but it is just a part of the work for me.”

Fans wonder if Bo Nickal Faked Fight Week weigh in responses on social media

Bo Nickal had a reasonable explanation why his weight was so high when he got on the scales in Iowa during the Vechtweek.

Despite his plan to set up some extra format, Vecht fans were not entirely convinced by the video for one specific reason.

The way in which the video is edited suggests that it was not Nickal who recorded that weight because it is not in the recording when the lecture gets through, he is only seen on the scale and responds to the number.

Whether he told the truth or not, the moment that Nickal gets on the scales, is certainly a tense moment this Friday.
