Bologna manager Vincenzo Italiano ‘happy’ to extend contract until 2027

Vincenzo Italiano said he was “happy to continue” in Bologna after the Italian cup winners announced on Thursday that they had extended the coach's contract until June 2027.

Italiano came to Bologna at Fiorentina last summer after three seasons, which led them to the first trophy since 1974 when they defeated AC Milan 1-0 to win the Italian cup.

“I am happy to continue this trip,” said Italiano.

“We have many exciting competitions to take on and goals to reach together. See you in July, more ready than ever!”

Bologna finished ninth in the Serie A, but their Italian cup triumph means that they will go directly to the Europa League League stage next season.

“We are very happy to expand our relationship with Vincenzo Italiano,” said club director Claudio Fenici.

“As we have said several times, this has always been our intention and we are delighted to take on new challenges next season.”

Although Bologna has opted for stability, other Serie A-clubs set up for a turbulent low season, with coaching changes that are expected at AC Milan, Juventus, Roma and Lazio.

Even ruling champions can be hit Napoli, with the coach Antonio Conte the target of Juventus.
