Borussia Dortmund has officially unveiled former Bayern Munich -Baas Niko Kovac as the new manager of the club.
The club is looking for a new head coach since Nuri Sahin last week was fired after a gloomy start of the campaign.
Sahin led the club to the Champions League final earlier this year, but struggled this season, with three consecutive competitions that the club left in the bottom half of the Bundesliga.
Youth coach Mike Tullberg took the lead on Saturday about the drawing of the club with Werder Bremen and their victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
Erik ten Hag was strongly connected to the role, where the former Boss van Manchester United was understood to have had conversations with the club.
Ten Hag's wish to wait until the summer before he returned to the Dugout, reportedly left him out of the fight.
Instead, Dortmund moved to Kovac, who played for various Bundesliga clubs before he started a career in management after retiring football in 2009.
A statement from the club showed that the 53-year-old has agreed a deal that will hold him in the Signal Iduna Park until June 2026.
After spells with the Croatian National Team and Eintracht Frankfurt, Kovac Bayern Boss became in the summer of 2018.
Kovac won a competition and cup double in his first season with the Bavarian Giants, before he was fired after a bad start of his second campaign.
He then spent two years in Ligue 1 with Monaco and led the Monegasque Club to the final of the Coupe de France in his first season that was in charge.
Kovac was recently responsible for colleague Bundesliga -Outfit Wolfsburg before he was fired by the club in March 2024.
Despite the victory on Wednesday and saw the club qualify for the Champions League Knock -Out Phase Playoffs next month, Dortmund 11th is in the Bundesliga, five points on the drift of the European places.
