Bournemouth 1-0 Everton: Super-sub David Brooks smashes home late volley

David Brooks inflicted further pain on Everton's beleaguered boss Sean Dyche with a miracle winner at Bournemouth.

Wales star Brooks brought the crowd down thirteen minutes from time when he smashed home a delightful volley against the Toffees.

And that goal gave Andoni Iraola's boys a new club record in the Premier League of eight games unbeaten.

But Everton are in freefall towards the Championship, while Dyche's job is on the line every week.

Once again his team were toothless up front and would have left the south coast with a loud thud had it not been for the heroics of their goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The Cherries gave Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga a well-deserved rest by dropping him to the bench after he became a father to twins.

And the Evertonians were lucky not to be crying like babies after eight minutes as Jordan Pickford denied the hosts the lead.

Teenage sensation Dean Huijsen tapped James Hill's long throw for what looked like a sitter for Dango Ouattara.

But the winger couldn't get enough impact on the ball and England number 1 Pickford had just enough time to grab the ball.

Antoine Semenyo had the ball in the visitors' net within six minutes when he whipped in Ryan Christie's cross, but he was clearly offside.

And it was Semenyo who threatened again when his low cross hit Jarrad Branthwaite and ended up in the side netting.

There was little to show for Everton's deliberate attack, but that's not really a surprise given last year's efforts.

The Toffees have scored just 31 goals in the Premier League in 2024 and this season alone have created just 27 big chances in all their previous league matches.

And while they struggled in attack, it was left to Pickford to keep them in the game as usual.

This time the No. 1 reached out an instinctive hand to keep out Kluivert's attempt after the Dutchman had been picked up by Semenyo.

After yet another postponement due to an injury to Armando Broja Cherries, the fans taunted the visiting supporters: “How can you watch that every week.”

But this wasn't an early time-wasting tactic from the Dyche boys as the hobbling Broja was replaced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin after 33 minutes.

That move could hardly cheer up the traveling fans, knowing that their top striker had not scored in fourteen games.

Dyche made two changes at the break, replacing Orel Mangala and Jesper Lindstrom with Harrison Armstrong and Nathan Patterson.

Still, it didn't stop the hosts from charging forward as usual, with only Pickford's brilliance standing in their way and flying.

The ever-dangerous Semenyo tried his luck again with a low drive that caught the Three Lions star just to his left.

You could understand why Everton fans have lost patience with their team's tactics under Dyche.

The Toffees arrived in Dorset having won just one of their previous ten games – and on this form you could see why.

Yet Pickford's one-man show continued just after the hour as he dived full length to his right to put aside Ouattara's low effort.

In a typical attempt to find a late winner as usual, Cherries chief Andoni Iraola made a triple substitution 20 minutes from time.

Bournemouth are the comeback kings of the Premier League and have a great habit of scoring late goals.

David Brooks, Enes Unal and Tyler Adams were sent on for Ouattara, Kluivert and Hill in Iraola's bid to continue the trend.

And again it worked brilliantly almost straight away as Brooks put aside an excellent volley in the 77th minute from a Kerkez cross.
