Conor McGregor weighed on the Wilde Canelo Alvarez vs. Jake Paul Fallout.
Negotiations between Canelo Alvarez, Jake Paul and their respective teams for a potential boxing fight reached the rhetorical 'one-year line' this week. But despite reports that the fight was in the last stages of the negotiations, Alvarez pulled himself out of the Paul Fight conversations at the last minute and signed a new four-fight agreement with Riyadh season and Turki Alshikh.
The new deal from Alvarez comprises a super fight with Terence Crawford in September and a targeted fight against Jermall Charlo or Bruno Surace. If Alvarez visits the Paul fight again, it seems that it will only take place in the end of 2026.
Paul accused Alvarez of being a 'slave' after their combat interviews fell apart. At the moment Alvarez has not responded to Paul's harsh comments, while he turns out to be his return for the Cinco de Mayo weekend.
In addition to the Alvarez fight, Paul was also briefly connected to a potential scrap with Conor McGregor. McGregor, who has no longer fought in the UFC doctor since 2021, was in 'preliminary similarities' to prevent Logan Paul before the UFC reportedly concluded negotiations.

McGregor, Jake and Logan had a viral run-in during their performances in Washington DC for the recent American presidential inauguration. Although their interactions were usually warm, all parties got a few verbal punctures before they went their own way.
After Paul's manifested fight with Alvarez fell apart, it was not long before McGregor would weigh, thanks to a recent Instagram remark.

McGregor's Super Fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Did the stage for inexperienced boxers in 2017 to be confronted with world champion-caliber hunters in the ring. If it is Paul vs. Alvarez fight had flourished this year, it would have been the most difficult fight of Paul's career with a considerable margin, after recent victories over McGregor's two-time rival Nate Diaz and heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson.

After McGregor's desired battles fell through the cracks with Logan and Jake, he still focuses on a UFC recovery by the end of the year. He was supposed to give UFC 303 against Michael Chandler last year before he withdrew due to an injury.
McGregor was briefly in conversations to face Manny Pacquiao in a boxing match from 2021 before fighting discussions fell through at the last minute. He continued with Dustin Poirier on UFC 257 and lost because of knockout before he fell to fill Poirier in their UFC 264 trilogy.
In the aftermath of the canceled Alvarez vs. Paul Fight praised McGregor Alvarez and his team to change course in a great way. Now that Paul remains without an opponent for his next fight, McGregor is a potential future option, but he should convince the UFC buyer to give him the green light.
