The Brazilian football federation has renewed their interest in Carlo Ancelotti and would like the Italian to be in charge of the World Cup 2026, has claimed a report.
The development comes in the aftermath of the embarrassing 4-1 defeat of the Selecao by Bitter Rivals Argentina in World Cup qualifying on Tuesday evening. Brazil left the result in fourth place, with the first six teams from Conmebol that automatically qualified for the tournament in the US, Mexico and Canada.
The CBF the most recently strived the 65-year-old in 2023 and was willing to make him the first foreign head coach in the history of the nation, while his second enchantment seemed to take the Bernabeu.
According to athletics, the federation has again had contact with the Italian while the pressure on the sitting Dorival junior. The report also says that Madrid claimed not to be aware of contact between their manager and the CBF.
Earlier, Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazario claimed that the aim of the Selecao to Carlo Ancelotti in 2023 was 'no fantasy' after he had rejected their approach.
Ancelotti was in the last year of his contract in the Bernabeu and Brazil, had faith in luring him to the side where several of his Los Blancos stars play their national football.
CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues, who was re-elected this week, said that the Natie Ancelotti would take on the track when his Madrid contract ended in 2024, just in time for the Copa America, in the US in June.
“He will be here, you know for sure,” said Rodrigues of Ancelotti.
That of course did not happen and after he had appointed Fernando Diniz to temporarily take care of the team in addition to his role as head coach of Fluminense, Junior was chosen to lead the outfit. Ronaldo revealed that Madrid came close to firing Ancelotti, which would have cleared the way for his arrival in Brazil.
“It was not a fantasy because I helped in the process by talking to Carlo, but he was not released,” he told Charla Podcast. 'Real Madrid did not release him.
'After negotiating, everything got stuck because he didn't have Real Madrid's release.
“If he hadn't won anything, Real Madrid would have fired him and Ancelotti would have come, but he won the Champions League and stayed for another year.”
Speculation about the future of Ancelotti has continued to swirl despite the excellent versions of Madrid and impressive trophy that draws his second spell with the side. The threatening ghost of former Madrid star and the current Bayer Leverkusen -Sbaas Xabi Alonso is looming.
Many expected that he would make the switch to Spain last summer after he had led Leverkusen to their first Bundesliga title, as well as the German cup and the final of the Europa League.
Earlier this year, the 65-year-old spoke to the chatter and was characteristic philosophically in his assessment of his situation.
“I want to be very clear: I will never decide the date of my departure from this club in my life,” he said. 'I know very well that it will come one day, but I will not decide that day.
'It can be tomorrow or in one or five years. I have the advantage that Florentino [Perez] I will be here for four years and I have the goal of reaching them with him. We can say goodbye together. '
After their secrets this week, Argentina made eight points clear at the top of the South American qualification group, while Brazil still has to do work to book their place at the 2026 World Cup.
