Brazil sound out La Liga manager as Dorival Junior replacement

Brazil is looking for a new manager after firing Dorival Junior, and just like their earlier search, they are looking for their favorite candidate in La Liga – but this time it is not a real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Prior to hiring Dorival in January 2024, the Brazilian football federation (CBF) really wanted to name Carlo Ancelotti, whose future in Real Madrid was very uncertain at the time. However, the decision of the Italian to commit himself to a new contract saw the Selecao further, although they are now back to a square in needing a manager.

Although the CBF is certainly still interested in Ancelotti, a movement would not be possible for him unless he left Real Madrid. In the meantime, they now look at another La Liga veteran manager: Manuel Pellegrini.

As reported by the Chilean newspaper La Tercera (VIA MD), Pellegrini sounded by the CBF.

“What we know is that an intermediary of the Brazilian national team contacted the entourage of Pellegrini. We are sure that the Chilean is interested in the market, especially because of what he has done in our club in the past five seasons.

The work of Pellegrini at Betis had looked under threat a few months ago after a bad first half of the season, but he turned the fortunes of him and Los Verdiblancos in 2025. They are well in the hunt to secure the Champions League qualification for the campaign 2025-26, and if another would be there.
