BREAKING: Chelsea sign Liam Delap on £30m deal from Ipswich Town until 2031

Chelsea has officially announced the transfer of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, with the striker signing a contract until 2031.

Delap, an international under-21 of England under 21, hit the Premier League 12 times during the 2024/25 campaign and was nominated for the Young Player of the Year Award.

Delap started his career in the Derby County academy before he came to Manchester City in 2019. After a season with the club under the age of 18, he went to the Elite Development Squad, where he played under the current Blues head coach Enzo Maresca.

The striker enjoyed a striking campaign. He yielded 24 goals in 20 Premier League 2 matches, scored on his debut for the senior side of City in the League Cup and had his first top flight against Leicester City.

Further performances of the first team followed during the 2021/22 season before he started loan spells in Stoke City and Preston North End.

Delap spent the 2023/24 season with Hull City and, after scoring eight goals, made a switch to the newly promoted city of Ipswich.

The 22-year-old produced on the Premier League podium, with 12 goals scored for the tractor Boys in 37 performances.

Delap also represented England in the youth era, with its latest caps from the under-21s in March.
