BREAKING: PGMOL issue ‘response’ to Tarkowski incident over his horror tackle

The official referee organ has officially responded to the controversial moment in the Merseyside Derby.

The Professional Game Match Officials Board has officially responded to the controversial tackle of James Tarkowski during the 1-0 victory of Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby in Anfield.

On Wednesday evening, Liverpool took another step in the direction of winning the 2024/25 Premier League title with a victory over local rivals Everton in Anfield.

A goal from Diogo Jota decided the close -fough match between the bitter rivals, with the most controversial moment of the game that came into play much earlier, while Everton -defender Tarkowski committed a horror -taille on Alexis Mac Allister.

Although the Englishman was shown a yellow card, many believe that he was lucky not to be sent, and the official response of the PGMOL seems to agree with this view.

In the 11th minute of what was already a tense game, a blocked shot by Jota left the ball on Mac Allister's feet on the edge of the box to a brutal and late challenge of Tarkowski saw the Argentinian collapse in pain.

Despite the fact that the Everton star clearly followed Mac Allister after releasing the ball, referee Sam Barrott and Var -officer Paul Tierney decided to issue a yellow card, to the disagreement of fans.

And now the PGMOL has expressed itself to respond to the controversial moment, which showed that Tarkowski was lucky to stay on the field and had a red card for the tackle.

Post on X wrote Sky Sports Chief Reporter Kaveh Solhekol: “PGMOL acknowledges that Everton defender James Tarkowski should have got a red card in their livermature with Liverpool.

“The challenge clearly saw Tarkowski playing the ball, but the nature of the order met the threshold for serious cheating

“The referee thought that the challenge was reckless in real time and the VAR then checked that decision on the field of a yellow card, which was considered to be a clear and obvious mistake

“However, the image of PGMOL is that an assessment should have been recommended and ultimately destroyed the original decision.”

Journalists Henry Winter, Paul Joyce and Lewis Steele all repeated this statement and confirmed that the administrative body has the feeling that Tarkowski should have seen red for serious false game.
