Brendan Schaub Namur Ideal UFC Comeback opponent
During the most recent episode of his podcast 'The Fighter and the Kid', Brendan Schaub and his fellow gastheer, Bryan Callen, answered questions from their fans.
One person wanted to know who would opt for a hypothetical comeback fight.
Schaub initially considered being confronted with Francis Ngannou for a monster payment day before he settled on Ciryl Gane, because of his high ranking and clear lack of a grout game.
“I would like to earn as much money as possible,” he said. So I would probably go for Francis [Ngannou]. I would just try to get him down.
Schaub added: “Probably Ciryl Gane, to be honest with you, his Takedowns are terrible and his Jiu-Jitsu is terrible. At the feet it will be a problem. It will be a right daythe-game plan there.
“From those top dogs, yes, probably Ciryl Gane. Only because he has such a striking hole in his Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling. Ciryl Gane, just because he has striking holes, but it would be a tough day at the office.
“That would be a good thing because they will all be difficult. 10-14, you've never heard of it.
“So, give me a big name, with a striking hole. At least with Ciryl Gane, if you lose to him:” Yes, he is arranged #2 in the world, Brendan did not fight in 10 years. “
What is the next step for Ciryl Gane?
Ciryl Gane has not fought anymore since he achieved a controversial decision gain at UFC 310 in December 2024.

The next step from Gane depends on the UFC unification battle between Jones and Tom Aspinall.
If it continues, the former interim champion is on a different top candidate.
