During his UFC career, Brendan Schaub faced a few legends of the heavyweight division.
While he called time on his career in 2015 after he came to terms with where his ceiling was in the sport, 'Big Brown' still took a number of big wins.
Schaub defeated famous people like Mirko Cro Cop and Gabriel Gonzaga, who have also had losses for heavyweight icons such as Andrei Arlovski and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
However, there was one fight that probably seemed to see him seeing a new arrival of the promotion that would be a fan favorite of all time.
Although Schaub has mentioned a current heavyweight that he would like to encounter in a hypothetical return, he almost crossed paths with a star that is still one of the top names in the division to this day.

Brendan Schaub joked that Derrick Lewis 'destroys' his night by calling him while both men were in the UFC
In a recent performance on the Jaxxon Podcast, Brendan Schaub spoke about how the landscape of the UFC has changed with regard to how big the hunters are.
After Schaub said that he would probably not be able to compete in today's heavyweight division because he would become substandard, Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson wondered if he ever stood opposite Derrick Lewis.
By the time Schaub participated for the last time in 2014, Lewis only had his first three fights in the Octagon and won the first two by Knockout before he was stopped by Matt Mitrione.
Now with 30 UFC fights under his belt and the record for most knockouts on 16, 'The Black Beast' is still strong at the age of 40, such as Lewis' recent victory over Tallison Teixeira proved.
Schaub joked that he then knew a fight with Lewis that he did not want a part of, claiming that it immediately killed his festive atmosphere after a recent victory.
“No, we had to do that. He beat someone out and then I defeated Lavar Johnson. I watched Buffalo Wild Wings, I was a UFC signature there. He hit some guy out and they are:” Who wants to fight afterwards? ” He is from 'Brendan Schaub'.

Brendan Schaub was offered a fight with Derrick Lewis for many years
In a performance at Brendan Schaub's 'The Fighter and the Kid' Podcast, Jorge Masvidal tried to seduce the former UFC heavyweight from retirement.
Masvidal wanted to make Schaub involved in his GameBred Bareknuckle promotion, which previously had several former stars of the heavyweight division.
Lewis' name came in the conversation, with Masvidal suggested that he could be a free agent who was signed what they were looking at.
At the time, Schaub stated that he would be open to the matchup, since he could struggle, although nothing came from this and 'The Black Beast' remains in the UFC to this day.
