The captain of Brentford pulled the anger of Mikel Arteta and Gabriel Martinelli for his luns -challenging the Brazilian winger in the Emirates on Saturday
Christian Norgaard apologized for Gabriel Martinelli for his horror -Tackle – and then tipped Arsenal to survive the “magical” boiler of Madrid. Gunners -Manager Mikel Arteta claimed that the Brentford manager should have been sent away for scything down Martinelli, while the Brazilian attacker complained the late, lunging challenge, could have breaked his leg.
Norgaard seemed to make little progress in his attempt to make up for with Martinelli during the break, but later revealed: “He accepted my apology and shook my hand.
“He thought the tackle might be harder than me, but he was also fine and (decan) rice – he said it is part of football, you try to make these tackles to stop transitions and there was no bad intention in the challenge.
“Looking back, maybe it was a bit harder than I wanted it to be, but I would never want to hurt deliberately. Sometimes you ended up in situations like I did with Jordan Pickford in Everton, where I received a straight red card (it was destroyed), but it was never intentional.”
Norgaard believes that Arsenal will defend their benefits of three goals on Wednesday in the Champions League quarterfinals second stage on Wednesday but warned that they should navigate through a path through the mystical powers of Real Madrid in the Bernabeu.
He said: “I think Arsenal will end the job. I looked at the first stage and they were brilliant.
“Although the Bernabeu is a magical place, especially for the home team, but they need more than magic to go through this time.”
Brentford remains the Transit Lounge Club of the Premier League – too good to go down, but not seriously threatening to reach Europe.
Norgaard admitted: “We never won here and it is a funny feeling – we have taken two points from Chelsea and Arsenal in our last two games and we do not dance to music in the dressing room nor disappointed.
“The largest club in the world recently came here and received nothing, so to take an end when they (Arsenal) still had something to play for a very good result.”
