Brighton 0-1 Everton: Ndiaye penalty seals victory in Moyes’ 700th Premier League match

Iliman Ndiaye's first-half penalty secured back-to-back wins for Everton, who defeated Brighton 1-0 at the American Express Stadium.

Ndiaye scored for the second game in a row as the Toffees claimed all three points in what was David Moyes' 700th Premier League game in charge.

The Senegalese scored from twelve meters just before half-time after Joel Veltman was picked up by the referee for handball following a VAR assessment.

Brighton controlled large periods of the second half as they pushed for an equalizer, but the visitors held on to record back-to-back league wins for the first time since April.

Moyes' team remains sixteenth, but is seven points ahead of eighteenth Ipswich Town, who were defeated 4-1 at Anfield by leader Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Brighton remain ninth after missing the chance to close the gap on the top four, of which they are now seven points behind.

Data debrief: Moyes joins Fergie and Wenger

Moyes only oversaw his second Premier League win over Brighton in eleven attempts (five drawn, four lost).

It was an ideal way to mark his 700th game in charge of the division, making him the third manager to reach this milestone after Arsene Wenger (828) and Alex Ferguson (810).

Ndiaye was the hero as he scored for the first time in consecutive Premier League games. The Senegal international has now scored more goals in his last six games in the division (three) than in his first 17 appearances (two).
