Brighton Vooruit Joao Pedro was not part of the team that defeated Liverpool on Monday evening – only a few days after he was linked to a huge summer switch to the Arne Slot team
Joao Pedro was omitted from the Brighton team that Liverpool defeated on Monday evening because of a 'fight' with seagull defender Jan Paul van Hecke instead of recent transfer speculation, has been revealed.
The attacker, 23, recently served a ban of three games, but was available to prevent in the 3-2 thriller at the Amex Stadium. There was no room for the Brazilian in the Fabian Hurzeler team, however, in which Brighton's boss said after the game that Pedro was absent because of “private reasons”.
Pedro's omission came only a few days after the former Watford star was advertised as a possible summer transfer objective for people such as Arsenal and Liverpool with the season that ended.
However, the athletics has now outlined that a training ground with Van Hecke in the structure of the previous Premier League match against Wolves by Brighton against Wolves is the reason behind the absence of Pedro in the midweek.
Although little is detailed about the fight, it is noted that Pedro had already been suspended for that match against wolves after he had shown a red card for violent behavior against Brentford in April. Both Pedro and Van Hecke have been crucial figures for the seagulls this season, with 27 and 33 times in the competition respectively.
Pedro is the joint top scorer of Brighton with 10 goals this season and his return did not go unnoticed elsewhere prior to a summer where a number of Premier League clubs have designs about strengthening their attacking options.
De Telegraaf revealed last week that there is a growing interest in Pedro, who scored 30 times over 70 games since he moved to the Amex for £ 30 million in 2023.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are the three clubs that are said to be most interested in Pedro; The top two of the Premier League have already been associated with a series of attackers, while the current Chelsea regime has spent more than £ 1 billion on transfers since he came to power.
The ability of Pedro to play in different forward positions is understood as an appeal to his controversial vaulters. Arsenal is noticed as long -term admirers of Pedro and it is said that they have considered signing him in earlier transfer penters.
Brighton is in a strong negotiating position if they decide to cash in Pedro with the striker under contract on the south coast until the summer of 2028.
