Bristol City 2-1 Norwich City: Hosts move into play-off places with victory

Bristol City climbed in the play-off places of the championship after he had beat 2-1 2-1 in Ashton Gate on Friday.

Mark Sykes opened the score for the Robins only six minutes before Nahki Wells doubled their advantage with a low finish 17 minutes later.

Borja Sainz, who hit the woodwork for the visitors in the first half, gave Johannes Hoff Thorup's side a lifeline with still eight minutes to play, but Bristol City held up for the victory.

The Robins, with 57 points, rose to fifth place after catching up Coventry City and West Brom, who get the chance to go back when they win on Saturday.

In the meantime, the defeat is a blow to Norwich's promotion while they are 12th with 49 points.

Data Debrief: Robins do double about canaries

With the victory, Bristol City completed a league football about Norwich City for the first time since the 2008-09 campaign.

Norwich was unbeaten in their last three road League matches (W1 D2) on the way to this match, but are now without a victory in three games.

In the meantime, the Robins have now won eight of their last 11 Home League matches (D2 L1) and have admitted no more than once in one of those 11 games.
