Bruno Fernandes has given his brutal assessment of the terrible season of Manchester United and insisted that a Europa League triumph will 'save nothing'.
Success in the second European competition and that is why the qualification for the Champions League is everything that Ruben Amorim's side should play in the last weeks of the season.
United is 14th in the Premier League, but if they can beat Athletic Bilbao over two legs, the final of the Europa League against Tottenham or Bodo/shines will be remarked remarkably along Lyon in the final round.
But the victory will not make paper about the cracks of what has been a hugely embarrassing campaign, according to Fernandes.
In anticipation of Thursday's game, he said: 'I would not say it is a reward, I think it will just be successful in terms of the Europa League.
'It is very important to do that to get the silverware this season. But it won't save anything. '
Bilbao is focusing on the Europa League this season, because the final will be held at their San Mames Stadium about what a historic evening could be for the club.
Fernandes added: 'They have the final at home when they beat us, so it will be really difficult. You must be prepared. '
United succeeded in saving a point at the weekend in a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, with Rasmus Hojlund that scored.
But the competition season has been a catastrophe, in which Amorim even says that this is the worst united side in history.
Fernandes has been United's One Shining Light, scored 15 goals and offers 14 assists for the team.
There are major financial implications at stake with the Income Boost that would bring the qualification for the Champions League United.
And the club is desperately looking for a chair at the top table to help them stimulate on the market and to give more breathing space with profit and sustainability rules.
The planning has already begun for the next period, with Wolven Spits Matheus Cunha a top objective. Last week, Mail Sport reported that United almost matches the Brazilian.
They will then have to activate his £ 62.5 million release clause, but Paul Scholes has doubts about where the 15 goalkeeper will fit.
He wrote in his TNT sports column: 'He knows that his team is physically not strong or fast enough, so Matheus Cunha is clearly athletic, and he has quality with 15 league goals this season.
'I just worry about every signature that is currently coming to Manchester United. It just feels like it's such a bad place to go. The quality of playing at the moment is so bad.
“Is he a center forward or is he a broad player? There is no doubt that he has quality and of course it would be nice to sign it, but I am worried about where it fits.
“You can sign the best three players in the world, and I think they are struggling in this team right now, but they have to start somewhere.”
Or Cunha, if he becomes a member, will play in the Champions League or no European competition at all, can still be seen.
The first stage of United against Bilbao takes place on Thursday.
