Bruno Fernandes has made an admission with regard to the transfer speculation that surrounded his future earlier this summer before he chose to commit his future in Manchester United.
Fernandes, 30, was subject to a huge bid of £ 200 million from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal-Die were willing to offer the Portuguese midfielder a tax-free contract in the region of £ 700,000 a week plus bonuses.
Now he has made a candid statement about why decided to stay in Manchester, despite the supply of a more lucrative step elsewhere.
Speaking with Sky Sports he said: 'I haven't fulfilled my dreams here yet.
'I think I can still give something to the club. I think I am still in a position where I am helpful, so the thing for me is that I will be here until the club decides that '' Bruno, it is time to go ''.
'I clearly know that it was difficult for the club to decide that because it was a large amount of money that the club has not received since Cristiano [Ronaldo] On the left he was the last where they received so much money for a player.
Al-Hilal was willing to meet every financial demand that Fernandes wanted, but his wish to stay at the highest level conquered everything.
“It was a very ambitious proposal,” he added. “The president was a fantastic person. We have never discussed the amount [initially]. With my agent? Naturally.
'Then I spoke with my wife and family and she asked me what my personal goals were in my career. She was someone who always supported me a lot.
'It was an easy move, even at family level. There I had Joao Canneo, my children are used to playing with him in the national team, we have a great friendship.
“But I want to keep myself at the highest level, play in the big competitions, and I feel able to.”
Fernandes will want to go to a winning start for United on Sunday, when they welcome Arsenal at Old Trafford in their Premier League opener.
The Red Devils are stimulated in the attack by the arrivals of both Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
They are also linked to Brighton -midfielder Carlos Baleba, because Ruben Amorim further adds to further reinforcements before the window closes on 1 September.
