Bruno Fernandes’ ‘partner in crime’ tells club he won’t return next season

Captain Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United has described Nelson Semedo as his “partner in crime” and the defender is available on a free transfer after his wolven contract has expired

Wolves star Nelson Semedo seems to leave the club this summer after his contract had passed, in which manager Vitor Pereira stated that the former defender of Barcelona told him that he “wants to find another challenge”.

Manchester United is one of the clubs that are connected to a move for Semedo and the 31-year-old has a strong relationship with club captain Bruno Fernandes. The couple are international teammates with Portugal and Fernandes, Semedo recently called his “partner in crime”.

After Portugal won the Nations League in June and Spain beat 5-3 at penalties in the final, Semedo shared a series of snaps on Instagram in which the victory was celebrated and Fernandes wrote as an answer: “My partner in crime”.

Semedo's contract with Wolves expired last month and he was offered a new deal, but it seems that his future is elsewhere. “The relationship I have with Nelson, we have been very honest from the start,” Pereira told the Express and Star.

“He told me that it might be time, after five years here, to find another challenge and I understand. But I have to feel that he is honest with me. I prefer to know the truth from the beginning.

'Then wait and wait and wait. We can't wait. I really like Nelson. That is why the club has a lot of respect and offered him a very good contract.

“But in the end we have to look for our club. We have to look for our future. This is the time to find a good solution.”

Semedo is the newest important player to leave the club this summer after the departure of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri. Cunha has become a member of Manchester United for £ 62.5 million, while Ait-Nouri has signed for Manchester City in a £ 31 million deal.

They have only made two new signing sessions, with winger Fer Lopez joining and striker Jorgen Strand Larsen's loan agreement becomes permanent, and Pereira has emphasized the need for more new faces.

“I know myself, at the end of the market I may not be happy, perhaps disappointed,” he told The Express and Star. “I don't hope so because I believe in the people that they work hard to give us (players). We can't do wonders, we need players.

“We have to compete with Manchester City, Arsenal. This is our competition. We do not only compete with the clubs that come from the championship. Even these clubs they spend a lot of money, they invest a lot of money. It means that the next competition will be very, very difficult for us.

“I want players I know that we cannot control the result at the end of the game, but at the end of the game we are proud of ourselves because we are fighting, we give everything. Because this is the heart of the people in Wolverhampton.”
