Bruno Fernandes sends message as Manchester United release transfer statement

Manchester United has agreed a deal to make Matheus Cunha their first signing of the summer window and the outgoing Wolves star was welcomed by Bruno Fernandes

The future of Bruno Fernandes may now be in the air, but the captain of Manchester United did not prevent it from welcoming the newest recruit from the club in Matheus Cunha in Old Trafford.

Cunha, 26, agreed to become the first summer signing of the Red Devils after the club had activated the £ 62.5 million release clause in his contract. The Wolves Forward will add a much needed firepower to a united team that placed in 15th place in 15th last season.

United announced on Sunday formally Cunha's Vangst and issued a statement to confirm that they had met the Brazilian's release clause.

The club wrote: “Manchester United has reached agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the signing of Matheus Cunha. The signing of the Brazilian attacker is subject to visa and registration.

“The 26-year-old has 13 senior caps for Brazil and made 270 performances in his club career and scored 72 goals in the English, Spanish, German and Swiss top flights. During two and a half seasons in Wolves, Cunha scored 33 goals in 92 performances.

“Everyone at Manchester United is looking forward to welcoming Matheus in Old Trafford.”

Shortly after the conditions of the deal were confirmed, Fernandes went to Instagram to welcome Cunha in the club. The Portugal star shared a video of the club's announcement with the message: “Welcome to Old Trafford @Cunha”.

Although the arrival of Cunha comes as a welcome boost for United, it is still to be seen whether the talented attacker can play next to Fernandes or not.

The captain of Red Devils, 30, currently weighs a mega-money proposal from Al-Hilal, who are willing to pay Manchester United a stunning £ 100 million to bring Fernandes to the Saudi Pro League.

The Fernandes agent, Miguel Pinho, held 'positive' conversations with Al-Hilal's Powerbrokers in Riyadh last week. And it is understood that Fernandes received a few days to think, where Al-Hilal wants an answer rather than later.

Speaking after the club's defeat in the Europa League final, Fernandes opened the door to an exit and said: “If the club thinks it's time to separate because they want to come up with some money or whatever, it's what it is.

“Football is sometimes so. I have always said that I will be here until the club tells me it is time to go.

“I would like to do more to be able to take the club to the great days. The day the club thinks I'm too much or it's time to separate, football is that way, you never know. But I have always said it and I keep my word in the same way.”
