Bruno Guimaraes escapes red card after moment of madness in Newcastle’s ‘friendly’ against Tottenham

Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes was lucky to escape a red card after he kindly stopped his hands around Cristian Romero's throat in a pre-season.

The spicy South Americans came on Sunday during the Newcastle summer warm-up match against Spurs in South Korea.

The spit came just before half -time in the Seoul World Cup Stadium, after a running battle between the couple.

Guimaraes had driven a wild challenge of Spurs Vice-captain Romero just outside the penalty area.

The Brazilian was then pushed to the floor in the box by Romero when he tried to make space while the tone was on the attack.

Guimaraes reacted angry with the push, got off the floor and put both hands around Romero's neck.

It would usually be a broadcast in the Premier League, and Romero was seen who made that business for the teammate of Guimaraes and fellow center-back Fabian Schar.

But in the light of this game as a friendly, ex-Lyon man guimaraes for the season escaped punishment.

The incident was a flash point during a lively first half that was largely a love for the South Korean icon son Heung-Min, who announced before the game that he is planning to leave Spurs after ten years this summer.

Brennan Johnson yielded an opener for Tottenham – Son's trademark 'Camera -Pose' in the celebration – before Harvey Barnes 'Banger put the score, three minutes before Romero and Guimaraes' closed.

And fans responded quickly online, with one writing: “It's a friendly boys.”

While a second said, “Romero started for sure, but guimaraes would have been sent away in a prem game.”

A third added: “There is no such thing as a friendly 🤣.”

In the meantime, other fans were disbelief due to the amount of errors made during the game.

Spurs starts their Premier League campaign to Burnley on August 16.
