Bruno on Man Utd end US tour as Summer Series champions after Everton draw

Bruno Fernandes scored one goal and set up another as Manchester United Drew Everton 2-2 on Sunday to capture the Premier League Summer Series title.

The Red Devils earned a last point in Atlanta around the table with seven in the pre-season friendly tournament, after he had previously defeated West Ham with 2-1 and Bournemouth 4-1 in the Round-Robin US Tour.

“It has improved,” Fernandes Sky Sports said after the game. “I think the club does the best they can.

“We needed more competition for the players who were here. We needed more quality to get everyone a little more, to do more to get into the first 11. I think that is what the club is trying to do, the manager, and hopefully we can get one or two players to help with that.”

Manchester United finished 15th in the Premier League last season, their worst show since the relegation in 1973-74, with only 11 wins and nine from 38 games.

“I think many people have been bothered by this,” said Fernandes. “The fans pay more for the tickets and we really appreciate all the efforts they make for us.

“So now it's up to our players to pay it back on the field.”

Fernandes said the club is working to improve team and staff to facilities.

“It is every detail. Every little thing matters,” said Fernandes. “At this football club you can't do anything wrong on the field and outside the field because it is too big worldwide.

“The culture of this club won. It was there. And we have to bring that back.”

James Tarkowski from Everton brought Amad Diallo down in the penalty area and Fernandes shot in the shot from the place to lift Man United in the 19th minute.

The Senegalese international Iliman Ndiaye, born in France, was equated with the toffees in the 40th minute and tapped a pass by Senegal's Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Mason Mount, who came into the field just 10 minutes earlier, took a pass from Fernandes and curled in a shot along Jordan Pickford in the 69th minute to put Manchester United in front again.

But Everton pulled the level in the 75th minute when a ball sent back by Diallo, Manchester United Ayden Heaven blazed and at the back of the Man United just for its own goal.

Manager Ruben Amorim inserted newcomer Bryan Mbeumo in his starting line-up, the arrival of Brentford who missed previous competitions to complete the training for the season.
