Brutal Amorim hauls off in-demand star for Antony at HT leaving fans baffled

RUBEN AMORIM couldn't keep it dry after Manchester United's dismal first-half performance against Southampton.

The Portuguese boss admitted he would learn more about his players from this match than against Liverpool or Arsenal.

And the opening match against the Saints proved that there was still a long way to go before this team could be considered a European challenger.

The brutal Amorim hooked Kobbie Mainoo during half-time and replaced him with Antony.

The move comes with Mainoo in the midst of stalled contract talks and reports swirling over his future, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich both interested in the midfielder's services.

Amorim also welcomed more changes minutes into the second half, with Rasmus Hojlund and Manuel Ugarte both hooked as Joshua Zirkzee and Toby Collyer replaced them.
