Brutally honest Ange pinpoints shocking mistake behind Spurs’ awful run of form

Underpressure Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou explained why his team did not firmly fired this season in the Premier League and accepts that a number of long-suffering fans have 'lost faith' in his team.

Spurs sits 14th on the table after 15 defeats of 29 games – far away from last season, when 'Aussie Ange' led his team to fifth place.

And while Tottenham reached the semi -final of the Carabao Cup and is in the quarterfinals of the Europa League, the playing group is clearly tired.

Injury also played their role in the series of bad domestic results, but Postecoglou, 59, believes that the seemingly endless list of luminaire has seen his players their eyes of the main prize – which performed at 38 games in the Premier League.

He is confronted with a tough fight to keep his job in North Londs next month, with Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola, the rumor first-choice goal to take over.

Postecoglou told Socceroos Great and former Middlesborough and Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, he understands why many rusted supporters are frustrated.

“It has been a difficult season. There is no hidden for it. It didn't go anywhere near the levels we wanted, “he told Optus Sport.

'There is frustration that we have seen a glimpse of what we want, but then [there have been] Huge setbacks.

“But in the competition we have not been around anywhere, it was disappointing.”

The former Celtic boss has added the football schedule for players – of whom many also play international football for their countries – can be exhausted much.

When asked to name the biggest challenge with which his team confronted this season, he went back to the very beginning of their campaign.

“I think we got the start of the year wrong,” Postecoglou admitted.

'It is becoming increasingly challenging for football players, they don't get the traditional break.

“I think we took the season very hard and have underestimated the challenges of Europe with the two extra games, have a cup run … all those things.”

The 59-year-old remains 'Bullish' about his team, but since Spurs The Europa League has to win to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season, Postecoglou seems to be at borrowed time.

Postecoglou's explanation that he always wins silverware in his second season will also come back more than likely to chase him.

But as always, Postecoglou remains challenging.

“Surviving difficult times can often unite people,” he said.

'Because you think there is nothing on the job that will be as bad somewhere as what we have experienced. We survived and we stayed together.

'I think the greatest way we can influence our fans is by giving them hope, I know that some people have lost the confidence in what we are trying to do.

“We still have things to play for in Europe and we have to try to finish the season in a positive way.”
