Manchester United comes after the signing of Bryan Mbeumo after offering Brentford £ 70 million for their star man, which should be enough to get the deal over the line
Bryan Mbeumo could get his dream shirt number of 19 if he can close a move to Manchester United, with the figures currently available at Old Trafford.
United is still locked up in conversations with Brentford, but the negotiations have been dragged on for more than a month, because the bees look as much as possible for the Cameroon International, which cost them only £ 5.8 million in 2019.
There has been frustration about the low progress of the discussions between the two clubs, but now United has submitted a third bid of £ 70 million – in the hope that the Brentford can tempt their Star Man.
Mbeumo wants to complete the move to Old Trafford and if the move comes to bloom, it seems that there will be an extra stimulans for the 25-year-old.
He has always played in the NO 19 -shirt during his football career and used the song for both Brentford and Cameroon on international service.
And if he came to United, he could immediately split that shirt number because it is currently empty.
The last player to wear number 19 for United was defender Raphael Varane, who left the club last summer and fell at Serie A Side Como.
It comes after United had rejected two bids for Mbeumo, the latter is worth around £ 62.5 million – the same amount they paid to sign Matheus Cunha van Wolves.
The bees are determined that United should pay them more than for Cunha, because last season Mbeumo defeated the Brazilian and is also the younger player.
But a deal will now probably be agreed after United has paid Brentford's asking price for the player – who has already thrown away personal conditions.
He also told Brentford that he does not want to come to another club, despite ties with Tottenham, who were interested in the attacker after recruiting his former bee boss Thomas Frank.
Mbeumo delivered an impressive 20 goals in the Premier League for Brentford last season and is one of the most sought after players in the top flight. Since 2019 he has scored a total of 70 goals in 242 performances for the team, after he started in the championship.
